Mom was always
there when we needed her; ready to help, guide and
advise, although we did not always heed her. She loved
to advise Peter Warren, too, a radio talk show host that
was based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but mostly he hung up
on her.
She constantly worried about her family and that is a
mother’s role in this life. I believe that she is still
praying for us, but now she can really see what we are
doing! |
 |
She was very fervent in the traditions of the Roman
Catholic faith and had a great devotion to Our Lady and
the Rosary. She promoted it wherever and whenever she
could. I take great consolation and thank God for giving
me parents who raised me in the Catholic faith. |
|
She had her dearest wish granted - that she pass away
from this life and before the Big Bang, as she called
it, on a Saturday. The bonus was that it was a First
Saturday. |
|
Mom did have a sense of humor! I believe, in her life
here, she had many trials and tribulations as well as
joy. She will leave a great void in our life and we will
miss her very much |

The 2 things that I will mostly remember Dad saying to
me is:
"SAVE YOUR MONEY!" and "CHECK YOUR OIL!". |
 |
We did not know very much about
his background, only that he and his sister, Mary Pratt
(deceased 2003), had been on their own at a very young
age. He rarely spoke about his parents.
He did serve in the Canadian Army, but he never made it
to combat because he had a bad case of athlete's feet. I
must thank God that he did not go to combat because then
he may have never returned. |
|
Dad was a quiet person and when we were young he had a
difficult time relating to us. He worked hard all his
life to support his family. As we became adults, he
interacted more with us. He was there when we needed him
the most. |
|
I became closer to Dad when I
moved back to Manitoba. He always helped me when I
needed something fixed. He would say to me "What will
you do when I am gone?" I told him I would deal with it
when the time comes. I guess I will now have to deal
with it: the time has come.
We miss him very much. |

Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul;
He leadeth me in the paths of righeousness
For His
name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley
Of the shadow
of death,
I will fear no evil;
For Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
In the
presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days
of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
